JOB TITLE: Sr. Safety Specialist (Fortune 500 Co.)
  • Excellent career opportunity for a Sr. Safety Specialist to be accountable for driving safety excellence and compliance programs for a petrochemical leader!
  • Responsibilities:
    • Work with the manufacturing site to drive a cultural change that will facilitate the Safety Excellence program.
    • Implement safety programs at the site, including electrical safety, behavior observations, contractor safety, life critical procedures, and new employee orientation.
    • Develop site procedures in partnership with safety work teams and help communicate and implement these at the site.
    • Contribute to the establishment of safety objectives and plans at the site to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policy, and regulations.
    • Successfully integrate safety processes into plant operations to ensure compliance with legal, other requirements and required reporting.
    • Work with plant management to help ensure timely and complete root cause investigations of all safety incidents, as well as timely and sustainable closure of all safety corrective actions.
    • Educate site personnel on safety requirements and standards.
    • Provides coaching and professional development to all employees to maintain safety excellence at the facility.
    • Review safety data and analyze for trends.
    • Work with site personnel to develop actions plans based on the data.
    • Anticipate regulatory impacts and partner with the broader HSE functional team to develop & implement strategies for compliance with legal and other requirements.
    • Participates in local advocacy activities at the community, legislative, regulatory and trade association to minimize impacts on plant goals.
    • Interfaces with local regulatory agencies relative to safety inspections, inquiries and associated corrective action plans.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety or Engineering with 5+ years experience in occupational safety management in a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing plant.
  • Familiar with life critical program development, Investigation skills, and behavior based safety initiatives.
  • Experience working in a PSM environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams - both leading and participation.
