JOB TITLE: Senior Process Safety Manager (PSM)
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Provide expert technical leadership and consulting to global petrochemical sites with a focus on identifying process safety hazards, assessing risk, and providing sound, cost effective technical solutions.
• Highly visible position that will interface with Petrochemical Site Management, Capital Project Managers,  senior technical experts, and site technical and operating personnel to address process safety engineering technical issues
• Specific Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert technical support to help drive site improvement in Process Safety
  • Support major capital projects in design consulting, technical quality assurance and start-up assistance
    Lead process hazard analysis and other safety reviews of petrochemical processes and projects
  • Respond to plant operational events and assist sites with developing and implementing sound, cost effective, risk based solutions to complex or novel risk situations.
  • Develop and deploy process safety tools and technology that provide high value to sites.
  • Analyze process safety incidents and near misses and develop recommendations to improve performance.
  • Lead investigations of process safety incidents, employing root cause analysis tools.
  • Provide technical leadership and promote best practice sharing on networks / work groups.
  • Develop and deliver training in hazard identification, risk assessment techniques, process safety in design and safe operating practices for plant engineers and key operating personnel.
  • Develop and maintain engineering practices.
  • Coach, mentor and develop less-experienced engineers in all aspects of process safety engineering

REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering (Advanced Degree preferred)
• Extensive operating experience in petroleum refinery or petrochemical plant
• Knowledgeable of key process hazards and safety features of refinery or petrochemical plant
• Knowledgeable in troubleshooting process safety issues in petrochemical operations
• Additional experience as process safety engineer supporting refining or petrochemical operations
• Experience in Process Design, preparing design specifications for petrochemical process technologies
• Strong knowledge of recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices, and safety–related   government and industry standards (e.g. OSHA, NFPA, ASME, and API standards)
• Experience in multiple process safety technologies
• Risk assessment and management
• Process Hazard Analysis (e.g. Hazard and Operability Review (HAZOP) studies)
• Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews
